Supporting individuals suffering or who have suffered from the disability of substance use disorder [and co-occurring mental disorders post-treatment].
Advancing education by supporting and facilitating innovative research into the causes, prevention, effects and/or treatments of substance use disorder.
Providing information including research publicly available to the general public and government bodies through direct communication, seminars, conferences, workshops, and online learning platforms.
MPF Canada will support individuals in their first year of recovery from substance use disorders following treatment. We know that the road to recovery is difficult for everyone who makes the brave decision to travel it. We also know that far too many people face signifcant obstacles along the way. Housing security, job loss, and co-occuring conditions can all stand in the way of achieving long term sobriety. That is why we prioritize eliminating these obstacles so that people in recovery can focus on the most important thing: building a clean foundation for a better life. We provide:
− Housing Support
− Access to Mental Health
− Support Peer Support
− Access to Career
− Training and Placement Services
− Support with other financial need (i.e. access to healthy food)
We work closely with remarkable community organizations that specialize in providing the resources that our participants need.
Everyday, researchers in Canada are working to better understand addiction and find new medical and behavioural treatments that have the potential to improve millions of lives. We provide funding for innovative research in Canada because we believe that someday there will be a cure for substance use disorder and we want that day to come as soon as possible.
In addition to funding research, we want to ensure that proven ideas are put into practice. We advocate for the adoption of novel treatments by community organizations, health ministries, and others who share our mission to support individuals and end the crisis of addiction in Canada.
